Childrens' Play Area

Gooderstone has a childrens’ play area at Elm Place. Opened in 2005 run by the Parish Council. During 2021 it underwent a complete replacement/refurbishment, with funding from FCC Communities Foundation and local donors. All equipment is RoSPA-inspected annually.

 

General Maintenance

The Parish Council is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the village, including the grass and hedge cutting in the main playing field. If you would like to report any issues, then please email or telephone the Clerk.

 

Maintenance of the roads, for example dealing with potholes, is the responsibility of Norfolk County Council Highways Department.  General maintenance of road side verges, cutting of some hedges and trees, road side gully clearing is the responsibility of the NCC Highways Rangers.  The Parish Council work closely with Highways and Breckland Council to ensure we have good drainage and highway maintenance.

The Parish Church and War Memorial

The War Memorial is placed by the right hand side of the church gate, the maintenance of this memorial is the sole responsibility of the Parish Council. Historic England is considering the above war memorial for addition to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, as part of their response to the centenary of the First World War. War memorials are among the most tangible and precious reminders of the sacrifices made by communities during the First World War.

Gooderstone Water Gardens

A unique attraction for all garden lovers, naturalists, artists and photographers - or those who simply want a restful break. What could be nicer than to stroll through an enchanting six acre garden, with its thirteen numbered bridges to help you find your way as they cross the waterways, four ponds and a natural trout stream.

​

Explore the nature trail, perhaps spot a Kingfisher, use our Bird Hide and enjoy delicious home-made cakes and interesting plant sales.

The garden boasts flat grassy paths, lots of seating, mature trees and shrubs with colourful borders, the garden changes day by day, season by season.

We are open all year around, coaches and group visits are welcome by appointment. Dogs on leads are welcome with well-behaved owners. More Information.
